Terms and Conditions for Commissioning a Pet Portrait

Thank you for choosing to commission a custom pet portrait! Please review the following terms and conditions before booking your commission. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.

1. Commission Pricing

  • Base Price: The prices listed are for pet portraits with a plain or one-color background.
  • Pricing: The price of the commission is determined based on the size, and complexity of the portrait. A detailed quote will be provided before I begin any work, and the final price will not change unless you request significant modifications to the original agreement.
  • Additional Costs: If you wish to include a scenic background (such as sky, grass, or other complex scenes), additional charges will apply based on the size and complexity of the background. A quote will be provided before work begins.

2. Reference Photos

  • Photo Quality: For the best results, please provide high-resolution photos of your pet, taken in natural daylight. Clear, non-blurry images are essential. Multiple angles or close-ups are ideal for capturing all the important details, especially if you’re looking for a realistic portrayal. I may also ask about any specific details youโ€™d like to include (such as specific backgrounds, favourite toys, or unique features).
  • Multiple Photos: If necessary, I can use multiple images to create a composite portrait. For example, one photo for the body and another for specific details such as facial features or fur texture.
  • For multiple subject paintings, I can use separate images to create one mock-up photo.

3. The Commission Process

  • Booking Your Commission:
    • Social Media Orders: If booking via social media, a 30% deposit is required once a mock-up design* has been agreed upon to secure your spot.
    • Booking Form Orders: If booking via the online booking form, you will upload your reference photos and pay the 30% deposit upfront. I will then email you with mock-up designs based on the photos provided.
    • By selecting Klarna as your payment method for pet portrait bookings, you agree to the following terms:
  • Booking using Klarna

    • Postage and Delivery
Choose the correct postage option for your location. Your portrait will not be started until the correct postage fee is paid.
    • Order Processing
Orders are processed once the first Klarna payment is made. Any payment issues may delay or cancel your order.
    • Eligibility
Klarnaโ€™s payment plans are subject to their approval process. Klarna may refuse financing based on their criteria.
    • For more details on Klarna’s services, visit their website. By proceeding with Klarna, you agree to these terms.
    • After receiving your deposit, I will provide an estimated completion week.
  • Mock-ups: A mock-up design will be created using your reference photos. This allows you to visualize the final piece, and you can request changes to the background color, composition, or details until you are happy with the result. Once the mock-up is finalized, I will proceed with painting.
  • Custom Requests: If you have any particular requests (such as specific colors, poses, or props), please let me know at the start of the process. I will do my best to incorporate your ideas while ensuring the artwork remains true to my style.
  • Approval & Completion: Once your portrait is finished, I will send you a photo of the completed painting for your review. If any changes are needed, they will be made at this stage. After final approval, the remaining balance is due before I proceed with varnishing and packing your artwork for shipment.

4. Payment & Deposits

  • Deposit: A non-refundable deposit of 30% is required to secure your commission. This will be deducted from your total payment. The remaining 70% is due upon completion, before I ship the artwork.
  • Payment Methods: Payment is accepted via [e.g., PayPal, bank transfer, Klarna etc.]. An invoice will be sent once the final portrait is complete.
  • Additional Costs: If you opt for a larger size, additional background elements, or other customisations , these costs will be added to the final balance.

5. Materials & Sizes

  • Canvas: All portraits are painted on a high-quality wooden canvas that is prepped and primed to ensure durability. The background can be a solid color of your choice, or left as the natural wood. Background colour may not be the exact shade chosen as I mix all the colours myself and can dry slightly darker.
  • Size Options: The standard sizes for portraits are [here]. If you wish to commission a larger size or a size not listed, please contact me via email or social media for availability and a custom quote.

6. Additional Products

  • Final Approval: Before the portrait is finalized, I will send you a preview for approval. Once you approve the final piece, no further changes will be made. Please be sure to check the details carefully, as any revisions after approval may incur an additional fee.
  • Major Changes: If significant changes or alterations are requested after the portrait is in its final stages, there may be an additional charge depending on the complexity of the request.
  • Timeline: Depending on the scope of your commission, the portrait will be completed within the agreed timeframe. If there are any delays, I will keep you informed.
